From its inception, Omega Air has identified a market for both military and commercial applications for the Boeing 707, McDonnell Douglas DC-10 and various other airframes. Omega is the worlds largest trader in B707 aircraft and the largest single supplier of B707 aircraft to the U.S. military, having supplied in excess of 35 aircraft to various tanker and Joint STARS programs with 99% dispatch reliability.
Based in Washington D.C., Omega Air, Inc. handles all military and commercially related activity for the group in the United States, including management of in-flight refuelling contracts and conversion of aircraft to dual role tanker transport. It communicates and interacts with FAA and other U.S. Government agencies and departments in relation to all the regulatory and legal requirements of the various projects currently in progress.
In July 2000, Omega made aviation history when it completed U.S. Navy ground and flight testing of the worlds first commercial aerial refueling tanker aircraft. The testing was conducted at the U.S. Naval Air Warfare Centre, Patuxent River, Maryland. Preceding Navy testing, the Los Angeles office of the FAA issued Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) ST00888LA for the installation of the refueling equipment and associated structural modifications.
Since this time, Omegas commercial tanker, offered to armed forces worldwide as a lease option to fulfill in-flight refueling requirements, has:
Refueled over 8000 military fighter aircraft
